This loft conversion stayed within the existing roof space because the house is in a conservation area. To build a dormer of any consequence would be outside of planning guidelines. Therefore to make the best of the room, two large “close-coupled” velux windows were installed to maximize light and head height. Note also that by developing around the chimney breasts the room is given extra visual width.
