Amazing Space Loft Conversions built a dormer conversion providing and additional guest bedroom complete with an en-suite bathroom. This pictorial log is intended to explain the process of how we complete a typical loft conversion project.
Load bearing scaffolding is erected allowing a safe access to the roof. Materials to build the dormer are delivered by lorry and craned into place.
First stage of the conversion starts in the existing attic space. The roofs structural composition is changed. Additional steel beams are placed to support the roof in a new way. Once the new structural support is signed off by the building regulators the old roof trusses are removed. A dwarf wall is built, access to the eves will be retained for storage space.
Construction of the dormer begins. The main structure is built with the existing roof in place. The dormer is constructed with timber. The roof and walls are boarded with ply board before installing a breathable felt roofing system and tiles. The external walls and roof are insulated. The windows are fitted
Work starts on completing the inside of the dormer. A whole in the landing is opened for the new staircase. Plaster board walls are built and skimmed by the plasterer. The bathroom is plumbed in and the electrical sockets installed. Loft conversions often provide handy storage space, access to these spaces is created.
Fully decorated the loft conversion is ready for use.
